CONFERENCE OVERVIEW

The International Stability Operations Association (ISOA), based in Washington, DC, and the Security in Complex Environments Group (SCEG), based in London, are pleased to announce their joint event – the London Stabilization and Security Conference – which will take place in the centre of London in the heart of the UK’s political establishment.  ISOA and SCEG are collaborating to deliver a world-class security and stabilization conference in this iconic city.

This conference will begin on Tuesday evening, May 14, with attendees invited to an amazing reception at the historic and iconic Churchill War Rooms. This extensive underground bunker was where Winston Churchill and his war cabinet plotted the allied route to victory during the Second World War. ISOA and SCEG have secured exclusive access, for your benefit, to this historically important site. ON WEDNESDAY, MAY 15, delegates will reconvene at One Bird Cage Walk, the grand Victorian home of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, which overlooks St James’s Park and is just minutes away from the Houses of Parliament, the iconic Big Ben clock tower and Horse Guards Parade. Here, in an oak-panelled conference theater, senior international and authoritative speakers will inform and challenge you to enable your businesses to capitalize on existing and emerging opportunities in Africa, the Middle East and Asia. Each of the speakers will focus their comments through the prism of stabilization and security. A full day of key speakers and panel discussions will take place with plenty of networking opportunities.

The key note address will be given by Admiral Lord West who has a formidable reputation for strategic insights in some of the most challenging and demanding of regions. Lord West had an extraordinarily distinguished career in the Royal Navy and was head of the navy during the invasion of Iraq. Following his naval career, he joined the British Government as the Minister responsible for national security, counter terrorism and cyber security. Lord West strategic insights should not be missed.

The African panel will be fascinating and challenging in equal measure. Professor Jeremy Keenan, an eminent academic and recognised global expert on the Sahara, North Africa and Sahel Region will provide a challenging and thought-provoking presentation.

The Department of International Development will provide an overview of the British government’s focus on international aid and development and explore the interface between the public and private sector.

The importance of international standards for your businesses will be carefully and thoughtfully examined. Lord Lindsay the chairman of the United Kingdom Accreditation Service will lead the discussions on this critical issue. Glynne Evans a former British ambassador with a hugely impressive pedigree on security standards will moderate the panel.

Maritime security and the role of the private sector has often been overlooked – this conference will address that! The panel include speakers with a broad and in depth knowledge of maritime security operations from the Gulf of Guinea, the Indian Ocean and parts of Asia.
